Perdita Foster provides private antenatal education and postnatal support in a non-clinical capacity. Her services are focused on education, guidance, and emotional support, and are designed to complement - not replace - care provided by NHS midwives, GPs, health visitors, and other medical professionals.
Within this role, Perdita Foster:
- Provides evidence-based antenatal education tailored to individual pregnancies
- Offers general postnatal guidance, including newborn care and feeding support (breast and bottle)
- Supports parents to understand what is typically expected during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period
- Helps families prepare for birth and early parenthood, and build confidence in caring for their baby
Perdita Foster does not:
- Provide clinical care, diagnosis, or treatment
- Carry out physical examinations or clinical assessments (including assessment of wounds, stitches, or maternal recovery)
- Make clinical judgements about an individual's condition or symptoms
- Replace or assume responsibility for NHS or private medical care
Clients are advised to seek medical advice from their midwife, GP, or relevant healthcare professional for any clinical concerns, including but not limited to maternal recovery, bleeding, wound healing, infection, or infant health.
All care provided is aligned with guidance from the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, and is delivered within a clearly defined non-clinical scope.
Sessions are tailored to your individual needs, priorities and stage of pregnancy. Whilst I aim to cover the topics included within your chosen package, the content and depth of discussion may vary depending on your circumstances, questions and the time available. Although every effort is made to provide comprehensive, evidence-based antenatal education, no course can cover every possible pregnancy, labour, birth or postnatal situation. The information provided is intended to support informed decision-making and complement your NHS maternity care. It should not be considered an exhaustive guide to every possible pregnancy, labour, birth or postnatal outcome.

Postnatal WhatsApp support terms and conditions
The early weeks after birth are a time of enormous change. Alongside the joy of welcoming your baby, it's completely normal to have questions, need reassurance, or simply want to check that everything is progressing as expected. Having direct access to an experienced midwife can provide confidence and peace of mind during this important transition.
- This service is only for women and families who have booked a package or a stand-alone antenatal or postnatal session.
- Support is provided via WhatsApp texts only (no phone calls or video calls) for four consecutive weeks postpartum, starting from your baby's date of birth, and support automatically ends four weeks after your baby's birth.
- Communication is asynchronous — you can message anytime, and I will reply during my available hours. I will always try to respond within 24 hours of your message.
- I am able to respond between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Messages sent outside these hours will be replied to as soon as possible during working hours.
- This service is intended to provide education, guidance, reassurance and continuity of support. It does not replace medical assessment, examination, diagnosis or treatment. Where appropriate, I may advise you to contact your NHS midwife, health visitor, GP or hospital for further assessment.
- This service must not be used for urgent or emergency concerns. If you are worried about yourself or your baby and require urgent medical advice, you should contact your NHS maternity unit, your GP, NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency. Please do not wait for a response via WhatsApp if your concern is urgent.
- Your messages will be treated confidentially and handled in accordance with my Privacy Policy. Please be aware that WhatsApp is a third-party messaging platform. By choosing to use this service, you consent to communicating via WhatsApp.
- The service is intended to provide reasonable ongoing support during the first four weeks after birth. While there is no strict limit on the number of questions you may ask, if your support needs exceed what can reasonably be provided via WhatsApp, I may recommend arranging a dedicated postnatal visit or referring you to the appropriate healthcare service.
- Once the support period has commenced following your baby's birth, the Postnatal WhatsApp Support service is non-refundable.
